Children can't have opinions

I recently read this article: 



This article is more an attack on Christianity than anything else, I see no inclusion of any other religions! Is this because it is only Christianity that the author has problems with? or is it because there would have been uproar if an article like this was written targeting any other religion and many would be calling it racist. 

A quote from the article itself says: 
"Such lessons can potentially cause serious emotional and physical damage to the children receiving them and should anger anyone who cares about child welfare." 
I don't understand how by learning about or even believing in a God who is defined as the true expression of love can be so damaging to emotional and physical welfare of teenagers who are old enough to develop opinions of their own!
